A new Adventure!
Manchester to London on a bike

I’m on my bike again!

This time I’m cycling from Manchester to London with 160 of my colleagues at Morgan Stanley, this time in support of the Felix Project. The ride is 320km long and will take place on 23 – 24 September 2022. While the ride doesn’t have the cachet of London to Paris, it is much harder, as I have a much bigger training hill to climb, and we must cycle over an actual mountain.

When I signed up for this ride, it was all about having an excuse to get fit again after Covid induced laziness had seriously dented my ability to cycle any sort of distance. However, after spending an afternoon volunteering at the Felix Project, I realised that they are doing something quite important and my lack of fitness took a back seat. I guess four hours chopping orange peppers gives you lots of time to think!

Volunteering at the Felix Kitchen

The Felix Project takes an astonishing amount of surplus food from suppliers and end users, such as supermarkets and restaurants, and turns it into readymade meals to distribute to those in need of a free meal. This surplus food is in perfect condition and would have otherwise been thrown out.

The Felix Project is an entity that believes that no-one goes hungry in London and good food is never wasted. It works with 580 suppliers and delivers food onto nearly 1,000 schools, community hubs and charities in East London, where deprivation is amongst the highest of any urban area in Europe. Felix food is making meals for 260,000 people each week.

My fund-raising target is £1,000, which is an ambitious target, so every donation is greatly appreciated. Each £10 donated pays for 61 meals. I would be grateful for your support. Please visit my Fundraising Page to donate.

For people who love numbers you can obsess over the stats on Strava.
